An Amazing Time…
You will have an amazing time at the Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show. The Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show runs February 14-24th this year with over 2400 horses bringing top owners, trainers and breeders from around the world competing for a chance at winning. A win at Scottsdale can mean big money to the breeding farms.
What is WestWorld?
The Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show happens at WestWorld, a premier, nationally recognized equestrian center in Scottsdale. There are indoor and outdoor arenas at WestWorld so you can move around and watch the discipline that interests you the most. You will see several variations of Country English Pleasure, Dressage, Lead Line, Saddle Seat, Side Saddle, Reining and Western. Shown below is an adorable Gray competing in Dressage. She was a little nervous but as cute as can be, reminds me of my first experience with Arabians, Mi Toskadoll.
About the Arabian …
To show at the Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show your horse must be a Purebred Arabian or Half Arabian. With their high tail carriage, Arabians are one of the most easily recognizable breeds in the world. Arabians, especially Show Arabians have long tails and manes. Their tails are braided and put into tail bags when not competing and only come down right before going into the show ring. One owner I spoke with said they use baby oil above the eyes to get that dark makeup look. There are both Egyptian and Polish Arabians and strong opinions of which are better. Arabians tend to be smaller, petite horses averaging around 14.1-15.1 hands. But, don’t let that fool you Arabians are strong and can carry heavier riders.
What To Do …
There are so many fun activities to do at the Scottsdale Arabian Hose Show, especially for kids. You can sit in an authentic Stage Coach, watch an adorable Trick Pony, tour a Show Barn and meet several Arabian Horses. In the kids tent, the kids can paint mini ceramic ponies. Throughout the show you can sit on an Arabian and have your picture taken. Don’t forget to get your “I rode an Arabian” silicone Band. Yes, I got one too.
The shopping is extensive as well as the food options. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Scottsdale so I’m always in for any chance to visit. The Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show is a must do at least once in your lifetime!
